I’ve always loved creating and making things and in 2020 I started painting, not knowing that it would very quickly become a great passion of mine. Flowers are my favourite subject to paint because of the fun you can have with the colour and they just make me feel happy. My bouquets come from my imagination, pulling together images of flowers big and small in scrap book format to reference when painting the final bouquet.
I want to create paintings that will simply be enjoyed wherever they go and be a positive addition to anyone’s life. I also love painting wide open landscapes that you can escape in to when the mood takes you.
I am a professional artist and a modern contemporary Scottish landscape and seascape painter. I live and work in my home studio in Gorebridge, Midlothian. I have been painting since I can remember and I absolutely love it! I paint in oils and I am really fascinated by natural shades, contrasts, textures etc. In my Scottish paintings, I try to capture my own mood and mix this with the mood nature presents for me to paint...

Every painting is unique for me because I put my soul and passion into every work, and I never know where my imagination and nature’s inspiration will take me next…

I am a North Berwick-based artist who loves being out of doors, trying to capture the colour, mood and magic of the moment – whether it’s the cityscapes of Edinburgh and Glasgow, the fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife or the moors and mountains of the Cairngorms or the west coast of Scotland.
The high pastures and rugged peaks of the Alps in summer and winter offer a further rich source of material and more recently the sun-drenched coastline and towns of northern Majorca.
Being in the outdoors and walking the mountains, forests and coastlines, watching the changing seasons – these are some of the fundamentals that shape my work as an artist.
I paint as I see it and sometimes that’s a recognisable image and sometimes it’s more abstract – it depends on the subject, mood, season and whim. But it’s great fun!

Hello! I am an illustrator and picture book maker from the east coast of Scotland. I live by the sea with my young family and work mostly by hand using willow charcoal. I spent much of my 20’s as a support worker running a day centre for homeless people in London. I later graduated with an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art (ARU) in 2015.

This architectural drawing superimposes the three diamond structures of the Forth Bridge onto the elevation of Edinburgh’s Princes Street with the castle and the Old Town in the backdrop. The intention of the artwork was to showcase its colossal scale in relation to a vista we are familiar with and yet it dwarfs the imposing structures of the castle, the Scott Monument and the Balmoral hotel. With reference to archival documents and a photographic survey, the original drawing was hand draughted over a number of months at scale 1:500 (reproduced here at a smaller scale); the faint pencil marks visible just below the railings of Princes Street depict 10m intervals.

Helen is a Scottish illustrator who works digitally, sometimes producing pure vector images; sometimes incorporating painted and captured textures.
Her landscapes and seascapes usually include birds, and are mostly very local to her in East Lothian.
Growing up, Helen’s sense of home was about the three peaks (Bass, North Berwick and Traprain) that surrounded her, and it’s this geography that inspired her into illustration and keeps her creating.
